Liz Stratton

Biological Illustrator / Ceramic Artist

Liz Stratton, known as ANURAN, combines her love for ceramics and training in scientific illustration to capture the diverse wonders of  nature and biodiversity with a touch of whimsy. Through meticulous planning and spontaneous creativity, she integrates illustrations and explores texture in her ceramic works. Each piece serves as a gateway to a world of tactile richness, encouraging a deeper appreciation for the delicate equilibrium and magical beauty in even the smallest aspects of the natural world.

When she isn’t in the studio, she enjoys hiking, foraging for mushrooms and edible plants, playing with her dog Albie, enjoying the national parks, visiting museums, watching Drag Race, and playing tabletop games like Dungeons & Dragons / Pathfinder.

What does ANURAN mean?

An anuran is a tailless amphibian, like a frog or toad. Liz chose this name to represent her because amphbians thrive in two worlds: in water and on land. She thrives in biological illustration and ceramic art.
